9. What is Helium?
Although Helium is the second most abundant element in the universe, it is not especially common on earth. There is very little helium in Earth’s atmosphere, around 0.0005% or 5 parts per million. It is produced by the radioactive decay of uranium and thorium molecules deep below the earth’s surface, and accumulates under very specific geological conditions.
